Daily Nutrition Tracker

A simple daily orientation tool

I happen to know a lot of very smart people who are simply so busy they have no idea what they ate today — or even if they ate.

This includes:

  • entrepreneurs

  • parents and caregivers

  • people with long commutes or who work long, demanding shifts

  • public-facing employees dealing with the customers all day long

  • chronically or marginally ill people who struggle with depleted energy

They don’t need more rules.
They need help getting fed adequately and in a timely manner.

This is for that.

What This Tracker Is (and Is Not)

This tracker is:

  • not a food log

  • not a set of rules

  • not a system you have to keep up with

It is:

  • a daily orientation tool

  • something you can glance at later in the day

  • a way to answer a few simple questions that actually matter

Think of it as a 30-second daily nutrition check-in.

The Questions It Helps You Answer

You are not tracking numbers.
You are just noticing.

Protein

  • Did enough protein show up today to keep your body functioning somewhere between:

    • “better than survival”

    • and “moderately well to optimal”?

  • Protein matters because it:

    • helps keep you from reaching for junk food

    • provides the building blocks for:

      • repair

      • enzymes

      • hormones

      • basically all of the most important stuff

Fiber

  • Did fiber show up at a level that:

    • supports digestion (wink)

    • and nourishes your microbiome?

  • I think of the microbiome as my own personal zoo that runs about half my physiology.

Carbohydrates

  • Were carbohydrates present often enough to:

    • meet the energy demands you place on your body

      • work

      • home

      • exercise

      • maybe some recreation

    • and support thyroid function as well as possible,

      • given your genetics

      • and your eating patterns?

That’s it.

What This Helps With in Real Life

Used as intended, this non-tech aid also helps you:

  • remember what food you actually have at home

  • see what you can lay your hands on and eat quickly

  • get off the take-out-only train when that’s not in your best interest

It’s practical.
It’s humane.
It’s meant to help, not judge.

How It Fits With the Rest of Your Life

Used alone, it helps keep you oriented and fueled.

Used alongside Ellen’s Restorative Kitchen, the goal is simple:

  • help you stay fed

  • so you can do what your life asks of you

Your partner, your boss (even if that’s you), and the people who depend on you would be glad to know you’re taking this seriously.

A Final Word

This is not designed for:

  • precision

  • perfection

  • crazy-making

There is absolutely no need to do this “right.”

It’s meant to help.
Things only help if they actually help.

This will.
