Roots & Wings for Renewed Health

Frequently Asked Questions

Understandably, you probably have questions you’d like answered before reaching out to me.

These questions and answers are here to help you understand how I work, who I’m best suited to help, and whether this approach feels like a good fit for you. If something isn’t answered here, you’re always welcome to ask.

What kinds of conditions do you help with?

I work with clients dealing with long-term or recurring chronic illness. Their main complaints often include persistent pain, deep exhaustion, difficulty functioning or enjoying life, and a general sense of feeling unwell.

These challenges usually affect every part of their daily life— work, relationships, sleep, and mood. Additional symptoms may include digestive problems, anxiety, depression, or insomnia (as diagnosed by their medical doctors). To clarify, I don’t focus on short-term injuries such as a pulled muscle from tennis or back strain but rather on conditions that have developed gradually and haven’t improved through conventional care.

My goal is to uncover the why — the root causes behind your symptoms. Once we identify those, we can work together to help your body return to balance — what biologists call homeostasis. That is the point where your body no longer has symptoms.

If your body has reached a stage where actual tissue or organ damage has begun, you will not be able to reverse all loss of functionality. In those cases, our focus is to recover as much of your functionality as possible, and lessen your symptoms, so you can experience greater comfort and enjoyment in daily life.

Are you a medical doctor?

I am not and it’s really important to understand that distinction. Licensed medical doctors are trained to diagnose and treat patients, usually within the framework of their specialty.

I am a Functional Health and Wellness Practitioner certified as an FDN Practitioner and a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner (AADP). My training focused on helping clients uncover the root causes of their symptoms and rebuilding their functional wellness through a natural, personalized approach.

How is your approach different from conventional medicine?

Rather than chasing symptoms, I focus on identifying the root causes of symptoms using the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) framework. This involves assessing, through my Roots & Wings Assessment and optional functional lab testing, how well your body’s systems are working together — including hormone, immune, digestion, detoxification, energy production and nervous systems.

From there, I guide you through natural, lifestyle-based strategies designed to help your body rebuild functional wellness, balance, resilience, and support lasting wellness.

Do you offer lab testing?

Yes. Functional lab tests are available when appropriate and always optional. These tests provide deeper insight into underlying stress patterns and how the body’s systems are functioning together. This helps reveal hidden contributors that may be keeping you unwell, even when standard tests appear normal. I interpret results for you in plain English and develop protocols tailored to your individual needs.

Can I work with you if I’m already on medications or seeing a doctor?

Absolutely. My work complements — does not replace — your medical care. You’ll continue working with your physicians while we focus on the underlying imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms.

I encourage my clients to maintain supportive relationships with their medical doctors and other licensed providers — each play an important role in your healing process, and as you age. This integrative approach helps support your overall progress and enhances the effectiveness of your broader care plan.

Do you work online or in person?

Both. I can see a limited number of local clients in the Hudson Valley area or work virtually with clients throughout the US via secure video sessions.

How do I get started?

The best place to begin is with a Roots & Wings Assessment. This is a comprehensive, multi-step process designed to help uncover the underlying factors that may be keeping you unwell.

The assessment includes detailed health questionnaires, targeted screening tools, a full review of your responses, and at least two appointments — one for your initial interview and another to review findings and recommendations.

After completing the assessment, we’ll discuss the next steps together. These may include the Mystery Illness Solution, offered as a six-month program, an extended format for those who need a slower pace; or a shorter customized option for individuals with fewer or more focused concerns.

You can begin by scheduling a brief discovery call through my Contact page. This short conversation allows us to connect, answer questions you may have, and determine whether the Roots & Wings Assessment is the right next step for you.

If you prefer, you may also send a text to request a phone conversation before scheduling.

What programs or packages do you offer?

I offer:

  • The Roots & Wings Assessment

  • The Mystery Illness Solution typically structured as a six-month program

  • Extended or Customized Mystery Illness Solution for those who need a different pace or scope

  • Individual Appointments for new clients or returning clients seeking focused guidance without a structured program

You can learn more about these options on the Work With Me page or explore the Mystery Illness Solution page directly.

Are supplements required?

Yes. While we’ll always recommend real food, the reality is that most clients who come to me are deeply depleted after years of chronic stress, illness, and/or toxic exposures.

Meaningful progress (for those with long-term chronic illness) simply isn’t possible without targeted nutritional support to help the body rebuild and recover functional wellness.

For that reason, I work best with clients who are open to using high-quality, practitioner-grade supplements as part of their protocol. These are always personalized and carefully selected to meet each client’s specific needs and goals as determined by the R&W Assessment.

Once your health has stabilized, you may choose to taper or discontinue supplements, though doing so prematurely can interfere with the healing progress you’ve made.

What’s your philosophy on healing?

  • My belief is that the clients who have been chronically ill for six months or longer are often dealing with complex, multi-factor conditions. They will each need to be addressed.

  • My belief is that if the body were able to heal on its own, it already would have.

  • I believe if the body is not healing, it’s for a very good reason — the body’s ability to repair itself has been burdened by one or more underlying stressors that will be revealed by functional lab testing.

  • The purpose of both the Roots & Wings Assessment and the optional functional lab testing is to find out what those limiting factors or stressors are.

  • I believe that once we know what the limiting factors or barriers are, and we address those factors by reducing what’s harmful and restoring what’s missing — the body will move back toward balance and better functioning.

  • I strongly believe that many people benefit from a steady partnership — one that offers clear guidance, thoughtful design and protocols, and as much encouragement and cheerleading as they need, while respecting the pace

  • As committed as a practitioner may, healing ultimately depends on the client’s participation. My role is to educate, guide, and support. Your role is to engage with the process in a way that’s realistic and sustainable for you.
