It’s Just One Mouse.

Would you leave it at that?

Suppose you find one mouse in your basement.

You probably wouldn’t say, “Good, we’ve identified a mouse,” and consider the matter settled.

You’d want it out. You’d want to know how it got in. You’d look for anything that might be drawing mice into the house or making it easy for them to stay. And you’d keep looking around for more—even if you never found another one.

I think about symptoms and unresolved health problems in much the same way.

You have a bunch of symptoms. Maybe you’ve had them for years. Chronic pain, exhaustion, gut issues, brain fog, Lyme. You may or may not have a few diagnoses.

It’s possible you’ve had quite a few appointments with doctors and other kinds of practitioners. You mostly did what they recommended.

But you’re still sick. And you’re afraid something has been missed.

So you’re still looking for hope and help. Hope that you can recover—and help from someone who helps people like you.

That’s what I do. My job is to help you look beyond what has already been found.

What else is affecting your health? How many things might be involved? What can be done about them? If you don’t know a problem is there, you can’t work on fixing it or making it less of a problem.

So how do I do that?

I begin with a Roots & Wings Assessment. It gives us a way to take a broad look at your symptoms, history, health, and daily life, including details that may never have been considered together.

The Systems & Symptoms Assessment is for people who have been chronically ill for a year or more, sometimes decades. The Emerging Symptoms Assessment is for people whose health is declining or who haven’t recovered from an illness after several months. Both look across more than 50 areas.

I don’t just confirm what you already know. I investigate to find what you don’t know. That may include optional functional lab testing that looks at questions your routine medical bloodwork hasn’t addressed and that you would not typically be offered in a doctor’s practice.

We’re looking broadly for anything that may be part of the problem.

The point is to give you a fuller understanding of all that you’re dealing with—and a foundation for what to do next.

If you choose to continue working with Roots & Wings after the Assessment, we use what we’ve learned to build a comprehensive, coherent strategy for the next six months. We address every factor we’ve identified as relevant to your health, in a sequence that makes sense for your physiology, with the aim of changing the trajectory of your health. Frequent appointments and open office hours twice a week give you support as we put that strategy into practice.

We want to change what can be changed, reduce what can be reduced, and remove what can be removed.

When you find something you can get rid of, you want it gone.

Just like that mouse. You’re not letting that guy stick around.
