This lovely creek sits in the Catskill foothills on the edge of the Mid-Hudson Valley — where my roots run deep.

Exhaustion. Pain. Discomfort.

Some level of misery — every day.

If your body feels unreliable, fragile, or unpredictable — and you know something is wrong even when your tests say otherwise — you are not imagining it.

I do not require your symptoms to fit neatly into a diagnosis in order to help you.

I work with whole-body physiology and operating systems — digestion, energy production, immune function, nervous system regulation, hormone signaling, detoxification and recovery capacity.

My clinical philosophy

I draw from a broad, flexible toolkit rather than a single method.

Depending on your needs, this may include:

  • nutrition as a signaling and regulatory tool

  • targeted supplementation

  • functional testing

  • nervous system regulation

  • pacing and capacity-building strategies

  • physiology-appropriate lifestyle adjustments

Tools are selected carefully, adjusted over time, and guided by your response — not by rigid protocols.

No symptom-chasing.
No trend-driven protocols.
No endless supplement stacks.

Just physiology.
Just enough.
Done well.

About me

Hi — I'm Ellen Nicholas.

I am a Board-Certified Holistic Health Practitioner and a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) Practitioner.

I live and practice in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York and work primarily online.

I support people who need a new path forward after months, years, or decades of chronic pain, disabling fatigue, and complex illness.

What drives me to do this work?

I know what it is like to be told:

  • your blood work is normal

  • your symptoms don’t make sense

  • and nothing more can be done

Recovery was not one dramatic intervention.
It was many small, physiology-aligned changes applied carefully and consistently over time.

That is the model I now bring to my clients.

  • I want to help people — who have similar health challenges to the ones I had — improve their lives.  Specifically, I don't want anyone losing decades to these illnesses.

  • I don’t want anyone lying in bed when they should be living a life of their design.

  • I want every child to have present, engaged parents…

  • By changing the lives of sick parents, we can change the lives of children.

  • I don’t want people being forced out of the American workforce and dropping into poverty or unnecessary hardship. I lived with severe, multi-system illness for decades following tick-borne and post-infectious illness.

For many years I was largely house-bound and often bed-bound.

Where we begin together

The first step is always discovery.

Through the Roots & Wings Assessment and, when appropriate, functional lab testing, we identify:

  • which systems are under the most strain

  • where stabilization must occur first

  • and what support is most likely to help

From there, we build function gradually using:

  • nutrition

  • restorative sleep and pacing

  • targeted supplementation

  • stress-response regulation

  • and capacity-appropriate movement

A few truths I’ve gathered along the way

about healing and renewal…
